Overview
We want you to be happy with Patrins. Because we sell storage as one-time purchases for a digital service that's delivered instantly, refunds are limited by nature — but we handle every request fairly and in good faith. If you were charged in error, double-charged, or paid and didn't receive what you bought, contact us within 7 days of purchase and we'll sort it out.
How billing works
- Paid plans (Pro and Unlimited) and team plans are one-time payments for a chosen storage amount and duration (1, 3, 6, or 12 months). Nothing auto-renews and there are no recurring charges.
- Payments are processed through PayPal or in cryptocurrency via our payment processor. Card payments, when available, are handled by a third-party processor.
- When a plan expires, your account automatically reverts to the Free tier — no cancellation needed.
- Buying again while a plan is still active extends your expiry from the current end date, not from the purchase date.
When you can get a refund
We'll refund you (or make it right another way) if, within 7 days of purchase, any of the following apply:
- You were charged but your plan never activated, and we're unable to activate it for you.
- You were double-charged or billed an incorrect amount.
- A technical problem on our side made the service unusable and we couldn't resolve it for you.
- You changed your mind and have used little or none of the storage or bandwidth you purchased. (Good-faith requests only.)
When a refund isn't available
- Change of mind after meaningful use — e.g. you've uploaded and served a significant amount of data on the plan.
- Accounts suspended or terminated for violating our Terms of Service (prohibited content, abuse, fraud) are not eligible for refunds.
- Expired plans — you received the full storage and duration you paid for.
- Free, comped, or nonprofit accounts — nothing was charged, so there's nothing to refund.
- Requests made well outside the 7-day window, except in the case of a genuine billing error.
Cryptocurrency payments
Cryptocurrency transactions are final and irreversible once confirmed on-chain — we can't reverse a blockchain payment the way a card or PayPal charge can be reversed. That said, we won't leave you stranded:
- If your upgrade didn't apply, you overpaid, or something else went wrong, contact us and we'll make it right — typically by applying your plan manually, issuing an equivalent credit, or sending a crypto refund (minus network fees) to a wallet you provide, at our discretion.
- You're responsible for sending the correct amount plus network fees. If your exchange deducts a withdrawal fee, you may send less than the invoice and the payment won't auto-complete — see the next section.
- We price in USD; the crypto amount and exchange rate are fixed by the processor at checkout.
Paid but didn't get your storage?
This is usually not a refund situation — it's a quick fix. Occasionally a payment confirms but activation is delayed (a slow payment webhook), or a crypto payment lands slightly short of the invoice (an "underpayment") and doesn't complete on its own. If your plan isn't active within ~15 minutes of paying:
Email us at billing@patrins.com with your account email and your PayPal transaction ID or crypto payment ID / transaction hash, and we'll apply your plan manually — you'll get exactly what you paid for, no refund needed.
How to request a refund
Email billing@patrins.com within 7 days of purchase and include:
- The email address on your Patrins account
- The approximate date and amount of the charge
- The payment method (PayPal or crypto), and the PayPal transaction ID or crypto payment ID / tx hash
- A short note on what went wrong
The more detail you give us, the faster we can verify it against our records and resolve it.
Processing & timing
- We review refund requests within 2 business days.
- Approved PayPal refunds are returned to your PayPal account, usually within ~5 business days.
- Approved crypto refunds are sent to a wallet address you provide, minus any network fee.
- Refunds are issued to the original payer and payment method wherever possible.
Chargebacks & disputes
Please contact us first. Almost every billing issue is something we can fix quickly and directly. Opening a chargeback or payment dispute without reaching out may lead to your account being suspended while we investigate — which helps no one. We'd genuinely rather just make it right.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. This policy works alongside our Terms of Service.
